Eido Build sends email through SendGrid. Until it is set up, people are notified in the app and in their browser only.
Set up SendGrid#
- In SendGrid, create an API key that is allowed to send mail, and verify the sender address you want email to come from.
- In Eido Build, go to Admin → Integrations and open the SendGrid tile.
- Enter the API key, the send-from name and the send-from address.
- Press Send a test email.
The test email is built the same way as a real notification, so it proves the layout as well as the credentials.
This Eido Build’s address#
Eido Build cannot work out its own web address. Set This Eido Build’s address on the same tile.
| Notification emails | |
|---|---|
| Address set | Carry a button that opens the work item. |
| Address not set | Say “search for PULSE-142” instead. |
What is emailed#
Email is deliberately narrow. A person is emailed when:
- they are assigned something
- something they raised changes state
Each person can turn either off for themselves. See Discussion and notifications.
Letting agents send email#
Expose send_email to agents on the SendGrid tile makes sending an email an action that agents can be granted. The verified sender is fixed, so an agent cannot choose who the mail is from.
Like any action, it does nothing until you grant it to an agent. See Integrations for agents.
If email does not arrive#
| Check | Because |
|---|---|
| Send a test email | It shows SendGrid’s own error if there is one. |
| The sender is verified in SendGrid | An unverified sender is rejected at send. |
| The API key is allowed to send mail | A key scoped too narrowly is refused. |
| The person’s own notification settings | They may have turned email off. |
| Their junk folder, and your mail filtering | A new sender is often quarantined at first. |
